Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
A note of mystery was introduced into the Intercollegiate Swimming Championships when it was learned that the unnamed donor of the Harvard Pool, known only as "Alumnus Aquaticus," will probably be among the spectators at the meet tonight.
The ghost-like Harvard graduate has remained incognito to all Harvard officials, including Director of Athletics William J. Bingham '16, for over a decade. Bingham has corresponded with the unknown, philanthropist through the trust officer of the First National Bank of Boston, but has never learned the name of Harvard's great swimming patron.
"I don't know who he is; I don't want to know. We are only grateful for his generous donation which made possible the construction of a pool which is used 88,000 times a year," the Director of Athletics stated.
