Junior Assaulted, Slugged By Two Unidentified Men

Richard H. Russell '43, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Adams House, was attacked on Linden Street by two unidentified men last Wednesday night and beaten severely before his cries forced his assailants to run away. He was not knocked out, but was moved to Stillman Infirmary, where three stitches were taken in his head.

The CRIMSON was unable to secure any more information from Stillman last night except that his condition was "satisfactory," and other University officials either declined knowledge of the affair or refused to comment.

Apparently Russell was asked for a light by the two men, whom Cambridge police described as "young fellows," and as he was reaching for matches they hit him with a blackjack. His cries drove them away before they could search his pockets.
