'45 Quintet Downs Nichols As 84-59 Win Breaks Record

Rolling up a record-breaking total of 84 points, the Freshman basketball team swamped Nichols Junior College 34 to 59 in the losers' bandbox gym Saturday night.

Before being taken out midway in the third period, the five regulars took advantage of the small court and loose guarding to the tune of 66 markers. Coach Al McCoy virtually emptied the bench, giving an even dozen subs a chance to gain experience and make the game closer.

Dean Hennessey paced the Yardling attack with 16 tallies, followed by Frank Bixler and Mike DeLeo with 14 apiece. Mike Keene and Don Richards came through with 12 and 10 points, and Dick Forster and Fred Chase led the reserves with five apiece.

Center and co-captain Pat Rice sparked the home team with 26 counts, while the Mead brothers combined for 11.
