Clarence Crane Brinton '19, associate professor of History and senior fellow of the Society of Fellows, has been appointed chairman of the Society of Fellows to succeed the late Lawrence J. Henderson, Abbot and James Lawrence Professor of Chemistry, the University announced yesterday.
Brinton has been a member of the History Department since 1923. After graduating from the University, he took his Ph.D, at Oxford, where he was studying as a Rhodes Scholar. In 1928 he was made an assistant professor and in 1935 an associate professor. He ascents to a full professorship next September.
