Tentatively deciding that the war should not interfere with plans for the Freshman Smoker and Jubilee, the Union Committee yesterday announced that elections for these two important Yardlings committee would be held on Friday, March 20.
Open to all members of the Class of '45, the two groups will be in charge of the traditional social events that will high-light the spring season for the Yardlings. The final decision over whether or not the Smoker will be held, however, has not yet been made, and is being left to the discretion of its committee.
Acting on the advice of Richard O. Ulin '38, 2G, recently appointed secretary of the Union, the committee agreed that the Student Council should not be asked to contribute this year to the Yardling evening entertainment, and that therefore it will probably be necessary to charge a larger admission than last year.
All Freshmen who wish to be nominated to the Committees should register in the Union Upper Common Room between 5 and 7 o'clock tomorrow evening, after which the applicants will be considered by the Senior Council.
