Amory Houghton '21, donor of the Houghton Rare Book Library, the Yard's latest building, has been appointed Deputy Bureau Chief of the new Bureau of Industry Operation, the War Production Board announced yesterday.

The bureau has been established to assure the greatest possible efficiency in the production of war materials and essential civilian goods. Houghton, who has been president of the Corning Glass Works since 1930, will assist in coordinating 24 main industry branches with the war drive.

At the same time, Charles S. Williams '13, board chairman of Thomas A. Edison, Inc., was named chief of the General Industrial Equipment Branch.
