Bombs May be Dropped Over Yard, But Won't Land Here

"Enemy bombers will probably drop their missiles directly over the Yard," according to an argument used to persuade recalcitrant students to sign up for A.R.P. courses.

Investigating the disturbing report, mathematical sleuths yesterday announced that it was all very true, except for the fact that the University is not to be the target of the bombs.

Only a mile from Harvard Square, the Watertown Arsenal will probably attract any planes foraying in the vicinity, they explained. Flying at a speed greater than 250 miles per hour, the planes will have to release their bombs above the Yard in order to hit their objective.
