Good Skiing Reported In Northern Resorts

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Skiing conditions are fair to good throughout northern New England this weekend, with the best snow reported at North Conway and Jackson, New Hampshire, according to reports compiled yesterday by the Boston and Maine Railroad.

North Conway reports a temperature of eight degrees above zero and 13 to 28 inches of snow, composed for the most part of light, breakable crust; while Jackson reports the same temperature and 18 to 20 inches of snow, also of light, breakable crust.

For those who prefer more northern climates, Lac Beauport and the Laurentian Mountains in Quebee appear to be the choice spots. They report an average of 37 inches of snow, most of it fresh over a firm base.

Places which it would probably be best to avoid now are the Dartmouth Region and Cannon Mountain, both in New Hampshire. Only nine inches of snow was reported for the Dartmouth Region with the temperature at 18 degrees, while at Cannon Mountain there is plenty of snow, but it is almost entirely frozen granular.
