SKIERS TO ENTER MIDDLEBURY TOURNEY OVER THIS WEEKEND

Eight-Man Team Hopes to Take at Least Third Place

Middlebury, Vermont holds the competitive skiing spotlight this weekend, with six New England colleges participating in the Intercollegiate Ski Union meet at Middlebury College running from today through Monday.

Hoping to pull at least a third place out of the bag compared to fourth in the ISU competition last year, are eight members of the ski team: Captain Finn Ferner, Del Ames, Hank Bigelow Rog Wilson, Lin Burton, Tom Winship, Bungle King, and Freshman Dunc Reid.

Indians, Wildcats Favorites

Dartmouth and New Hampshire will undoubtedly occupy the two tops places, since the Indians will be out for blood after their defeat by the Wildcats at Hanover, and the latter should be putting up a stiff contest to prove their superiority.

After his fine showing among the Eastern Amsteurs last weekend, King seems to be the chief Crimson contender for slalom and downhill honors. The other schussers in these events will be Ferner, Ames, and Reid. Winship, Bigelow, Ames, and Reid will represent Harvard in the jumping and cross-country events.

Three Sophomores are expecting to try their luck in the Maine State Championship at Bridgton on Sunday and Monday: Mac Griffin, Dick Wood, and Preb Motley. Freshman Will Cochran, who gained a very creditable third in a competition in southern Vermont recently, is entered in the Giant Slalom for the Gibson Trophy on Crammore Mountain Sunday.
