With Pete Garland turning in two first places, the Crimson track team rolled over Tufts in an informal meet in Briggs Cage Saturday afternoon, garnering six first places and one tie out of ten events.
Captain Don MacKinnon won his race, the 40-yard high hurdles, in 5.2 seconds, with Wes Flint coming in third. Flint broke the tape in the 300-yard run, with Read and Allard following for the only Crimson sweep.
Visitors Sweep Dash
The Jumbos led the way in the other track events, taking all three places in the 40-yard dash, the Mikkolamen's weakest event. Bill Palson and Bob Kent were second and third respectively in the mile.
In the relays, the Crimson came out in front in the Varsity and Junior Varsity mile runs and the Jayvee two miler, while Tufts took the "A" two-mile. The field events were solid for the home team, as Garland took the shot put and high jump. Tom Holyoke outdistanced the broad-jumpers, and Gerry Lelane tied for top honors in the pole vault.
