With the Christmas vacation only a month away, Henry F. Bigelow, Jr. '44, captain of the ski team, last night keynoted this winter's season by saying that "skiing today is of the utmost importance and should be greatly encouraged, since the Army mountain troops have already issued an appeal for skiing talent."
Revealing that the Ski Club plans to operate so far as is possible under present transportation regulations, Captain Bigelew said they hoped to keep the Club's ski hut in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire, open during the winter months.
Although the popular weekend snow trains will not run during the season this year, skiers may still commute to the centers in the north through regular traveling facilities. This winter a special bus will run through Pinkham Notch, thereby making it easy for skiers to reach the Club's ski hut.
The Club is planning to hold an organization meeting in the near future at which movies of its activities will be shown, Bigelew announced.
