With only four days remaining before Der Tag, Dick Harlow concentrated on offense in yesterday's workout, stressing both passing and running plays in a scrimmage less practice session.
Player shuffles are now a thing of the past, and the Crimson mentor retained the same first eleven he has used in the past ten days. One notable exception yesterday was Don Richards, who was given the day off because of a slight cold. Jack come ford took his place as A team tailback, but Richards should be ready on Saturday.
Byrnes Second String
Bob Byrnes, jack-of-all-trades who has played every position from tackle to tackle this fall, supplanted George Hibbard as B team left guard, and the ubiquitous Junior will probably have his opportunity to win his letter against the Bulldog.
The C team donned its blue, Yale like uniforms again, and the A and B squads worked over defenses against the Eli attack. Since Jack Graf was busy with his Jayvees, there was no grand lose imitation of any Blue back.
Jack Comeford, a trifle obscured by the big doings of Don Richards in Saturday, has put in a good week's work thus far. His passes are hitting their mark consistently, and his kicking is improving. On the B squad, Leo Flynn's passing is better than usual.
Cleo O'Donnell is the apparent starting wingback, and Bart Harvey has been working out with the first string, alternating with him. Bill Wilson is with the B squad, and Harvey, who has seen no action this fall, may get his initiation into Big Three football.
"Beat Yale" sings in the Crimson locker room began to mark an increasingly tense attitude--the usual keynote of Yale week, and a big plaster bulldog sat ominously over the door, a constant reminder that the Crimson's fall classic is just four days away.
Team A: le, Barnes; lt, Durwood; lg, Gudaitis; c, J. Fisher; rg, Smith; rt, Stannard; re, Forte; qb, Anderson; wb, O'Donnell, Harvey; fb, Johnson; tb, Comeford
