Store windows around the Square will once more be ablaze with light as some of the provisions in the rigid dimout regulation have been relaxed. The change was announced to Cambridge storekeepers in a letter from wardens Walter L. Cronin and David J. O'Connor.
No strategic reason was assigned to the surprising change, but the letter stated that the move was being made to "benefit the merchants in Cambridge who have cooperated with the regulations, while they were being ignored by surrounding towns and cities." The modification will only be for "a brief period of time," according to the letter.
