BUNNIES SHUT OUT WINTHROP 7 TO 0

Breaking its tie for the league lead with Winthrop, the Leverett House football team defeated the Puritans 7 to 0 Tuesday afternoon under very windy playing conditions. Scoring honors went to Dick Jason, who caught a Winthrop fumble in mid-air and ran 40 yards for the only score. Ted Brooks converted.

Essentially a kicking duel, the game was filled with attempted quick kicks, some of which got only a few yards beyond the line of scrimmage because of the near-gale which blew across Soldiers Field. Although the Puritans showed some superiority in the first half, the teams were evenly matched through most of the game.

Meanwhile the Lowell Bellboys gained their first win of the season by defeating a highly favored Kirkland eleven, 7 to 0. In a game remarkably similar to the Winthrop-Leverett battle, Bob Axtell snared a fumbled Deacon kick attempt and sped over the goal line.
