Supplanting the pick-up crew races usually held in the fall among Harvard's oarsmen, the Crimson Varsity eight will take the water against Dartmouth, B. U., and probably Tech, on the Charles to race the Henley distance on October 23.
In addition to Curwon's heavies, the Freshman eight, which has made great progress, will also, pit their oars against the opposing eights. The mile and five-sixteenths will by no means be a regatta, however, for it is informal in nature.
Dartmouth Crew Weak
The Dartmouth eight, last year badly beaten by B. U., though backed by an enthusiastic squad, should prove an easy adversary, for Curwen's eight. Though the underdog, they are not without supporters, however, for it is rumored that Bill Cunningham has offered them a set of ears if they wis.
M. I. T's dubious position as a possible entry is brought about by the fact that Tech boats can only row at 5:30 o'clock while 3:30 o'clock, the time of the race, is the only time the Crimson can meet them.
