CAMPAIGN TO SELL STAMPS BEGINS TODAY

Houses Will Sell Two Days Each Week to Better Record

The fall Bond and Stamp campaign opens today under an expanded schedule which, the War Service Committee hopes, will better the record turned in last summer when, in nine weeks, Harvard men invested a total of $3495.10 in the war effort.

New features in the current drive are the innovation that each House will sell two days out of every week, and cooperation by the H.A.A. which will refund over-payments for tickets in war instead of in postage stamps.

Efforts will also be made to get new residents in the Houses, non-resident Freshmen, and old House members who did not attend the summer term to sign pledge cards for regular weekly purchases. During the summer drive only 35 per cent of the student body pledged but the committee hopes for a better response this term.

Winthrop Tops in Summer

Commenting on the $400-a-week average of the summer term, Richard N. Swift, who is in charge of the drive, said, "The War Service Committee hopes that Harvard men will buy more War Bonds and Stamps than in the past, in an effort commensurate with the pace of the national endeavor."

During the summer, Winthrop led the purchases, with Adams and Lowell following, and Dunster, Eliot, and Kirkland trailing behind.

The only change in committee personnel is that Allen M. Johnson '45 will head the drive committee in Adams House.
