After the Varsity finished its abbreviated drill in the Stadium yesterday afternoon the coaching staff adjourned to the regular practice field for the scrimmage among the remaining upperclassmen and Freshmen in the hope of finding some previously undiscovered talent.
They saw only what they expected to see, a rather sloppy scrimmage between a '46 eleven and a Jayvee club with Yardlings filling in. Some of the players were better than others, but none impressed Harlow enough to merit transfer to the red-jerseyed squad.
On the Freshman side of the line, Charlie Tarbell, Bob Roach, and Karle Rohde did most of the ball-carrying and passing. Of this trio, all of whom ripped off occasional long gains, Tarbell was the most impressive.
This big triple threat, who had been impersonating Bert Stiff earlier in the week, pulverized the scrubs' line by the simple process of putting his head down and slamming through. He also looked good passing.
