If Dartmouth's line were as good as its backs, there would be no contest at Soldiers Field tomorrow. But the Big Green has a forward wall of dubious calibre, slight experience, but capable of far better play.
The Indian septet is a better offensive crew than the one which Dartmouth brought to Cambridge last October, but how the Hanover linemen operate on the defense is a question which will be best answered by the activities of the Crimson eleven Saturday.
Crowley Best End
Best end on the Indian squad is Senior Joe Crowley, who saw 51 minutes of action against the Harlowmen last fall. Typical of the Green line, he is better on offense than on defense, blocks well, is a fair pass receiver. His partner on the end squad, John Monahan, is a Sophomore who can be called upon to punt if the going gets tough. Long and rangy, Monahan is a good pass receiver, but he hasn't had too much experience.
Tackle Nick Daukas is the star of the Dartmouth front wall. Six feet, three inches tall, weighing 215, Daukas saw little action last fall, but he will be very much in evidence on Saturday. The other tackle, Lee Anderson, was shifted from guard this fall because his speed of foot hindered his play at that slot. If he is more at home at tackle, there may be trouble.
The only Freshman who is starting for Tuss McLaughry, is Carl McKinnon. McKinnon was moved up to a starting assignment because of his good play against Colgate last week. His running mate, Steve Holems, was also a reserve last Saturday, moved up by McLaughry on the basis of a good performance.
Norman Brown, Indian center, was a star on last year's freshman eleven, and he is another willing but inexperienced lad.
