THIRD ARP COURSE TO BEGIN TUESDAY

Radcliffe Will Be Admitted; Clarence Walton to Preside

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Plans for a new Air Raid Precautions course, to be open to all undergraduates and, for the first time, to a limited number of Radcliffe wardenettes, were announced yesterday by Henry Chauncey '19, assistant dean of the College. Principal innovation in the program is that it is built about rigid requirements set up by the Office of Civilian Defense in Washington.

According to Dean Chauncey, the new program is "particularly intended for those now in ARP who have had no special training." It is thus intended to remedy the present situation, under which many of their House wardens are nearly if not entirely unschooled in their duties.

Course Divided

To be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, the course is divided into two sections to total 18 hours. A ten hour basic first aid course, for all ARP men, and an additional eight hour specialized training class, make up the required curriculum. In addition, however, students may take a more advanced ten-hour class in first aid.

The third such course to be given at Harvard, the program will be under the direction of Clarence Walton, assistant librarian. At present deputy controller in the Boston Defense Area, Walton has written a handbook which will be used by the course. In addition, guest speakers will be invited.
