Lowell Loses First House League Game

By Bill Elser

Returning to action after a layoff of three weeks, House basketball saw the league's last unbeaten team receive its first defeat of the season yesterday afternoon when Leverett trimmed the Bellboys of Lowell 19 to 14 while Dunster took Dudley 36 to 13, Winthrop beat Eliot 27 to 10, and Kirkland fell before Adams 27 to 14.

In losing their first game, the Bellboys were far off stride, garnering but 14 points throughout the contest. "Shel" Sachs was the driving force for Lowell filling the basket for 10 points while teammate Jack Penson made the remaining four. Norman Cameron led the Bunnies with his total of 10.

Funsters Trim Dudley

Dunster went on a scoring spree as Eli Berman, Winston Lucke, and Phil Hammentt got together to score 31 points in downing Dudley 36 to 13. The Ramblers played a sloppy brand of ball with George MacDonald high scorer with four points, followed by Leonard Kilfoyle and Konnie Valasopoulos with two apiece.

After handing the Deacons of Kirkland their first setback last December, Winthrop showed good team play in taking Eliot 27 to 10. Scoring honors were well divided among the first team, Kay Rogers collecting eight, Ralph Seigler and "Woodie" Woodward six apiece, and Al Sachs four.

In another one-sided contest, the Gold Coasters capitalized on a fast break and some good backboard play to trim the Deacons 27 to 14. Dick Craig, Bill Jackson, and Bob Eckert stood out for Adams while last year's all-House forward, Deacon Howie Ezell, led the punchless Kirkland with five points.
