Spring training for the football squad will take place as usual this year, William J. Bingham '16, director of Physical Education and Athletics, stated last night. Whether or not there will be fall pre-season practice, however, has not been decided as yet.
Bingham has recently asked President Conant to confer with President Seymour of Yale and President Dodds of Princeton, in order that they may decide whether there will be football at all next fall, and, if there is, when the starting date for fall practice should be.
According to the Three Presidents' Agreement made some years ago, all such matters relating to football must be discussed and decided upon by the executives of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. In particular the football squads of all three universities are obliged to start pre-season fall training on the same date.
Bingham further stated that the regular period of football training in the spring is valuable enough in itself so that it will be continued no matter what decision is reached on the subject of football next fall, as it gives the coaches a chance to meet new men and try out new plays.
