Cries of "Buy Defense Bonds," or "modern design makes the big difference," will resound through the Yard this afternoon between 12:15 and 1:30 o'clock when the Civilian Defense Committee of Cambridge will try out its Dilk air raid siren on top of Widener Library.

A product of the RCA research laboratories, the siren, which reputedly possesses an audible range of three miles, has been tested in various parts of Cambridge to find a location where it can be heard in all parts of the city.

Prohibited by the War Department to use the regular air raid signal, the Committee will use an announcement of some kind to test the apparatus."
