For the second time this year the Crimson Varsity track team downed the Jumbos from Tufts in an informal meet, taking seven of the 11 events in the cage at Medford Saturday afternoon, while the Jumbomen were upsetting the Yardlings, five firsts to eight. As before, no times or scores were released.
Best sign from the Crimson point of view was the Varsity sweep of the 50-yard dash, with Moo Young, Tom Goethals, and Bill Bingham crossing the line in that order. Bill Trainor and Eli Berman, two other dash men on whom Coach Jaako Mikkola will have to rely to fill in for Second Lieutenant Doug Pirnie, did not take part in the meet.
Outstanding for the home forces was Walter Hall, who captured both hurdle events. Ted Sparrow followed Hall's example by duplicating the feat against the Yardlings.
The Varsity summary;
