The only R.O.T.C. Quartermasters Corps in the country opens this week at the Business School with the enrollment of approximately 100 first-year graduate students for the two year course which will give them the rank of and Lieutenant, Quartermasters Corps in 1943.
To be admitted to the course, the applicant must be an enrolled member in the first year of the Business School and must pass the physical examination. He is also required to have taken the basic training in Military Science and Tactics. This is equivalent to Mil Sci as given in College to the Freshmen and Sophomores.
Instead of becoming a 2nd Lieutenant in the Field Artillery, as is the case with undergraduates who pass Mil Sci 3 and 4, the graduate is given the same rank in the Quartermaster Corps. As far as is known, this is the only such course given in connection with any college or university in the United States.
The Navy Supply Corps is giving a like course at the Business School, which is open only to Ensigns. Although a 12-week period of instruction was given this summer, the winter session will be longer and more complete, with 150 men enrolled.
