LIST OF FRESHMAN PROCTORS

Every Yardling has by this time met one of the forty Proctors who will advise him during the year on his academic problems, reconcile his course conflict, and, if need be, play the nurse to his homesickness.

A list of the proctors follows, with a summary of their past careers:

Dwight Davidson Taylor, Jr., '41, Straus A-11, was on the Editorial Board of the Guardian, a member of Phillips Brooks House, and an editor of the Lowell House Chronicle. He played on the Lowell House basketball, baseball, softball, and golf teams, was awarded Phi Betta Kappa, and intends to become a lawyer.

Wheeler Smith '41, Straus A-11, prepared at Washburn High School. He was a member of the Lowell House Committee, was active in House sports, and made the Swimming Team. He intends to study law.

Henry Hornblower II '41, Thayer 59, prepared at Milton Academy and Phillips Academy, Andover. He was a member of the Union Committee, the Winthrop House Committee, the Student Council, and Chairman of the Jubilee Committee. Last year he was elected Permanent Class Agent.

David Leonard Anderson '41, Weld 8, prepared at Washington High School. At Harvard he was on the Winthrop House Dance Committee and earned Phi Betta Kappa. His intended vocation is teaching and research.

George H. Handelman '41

George Herman Handelman '41, Weld 35, prepared at Peabody High School, lived at Eliot House, and gained Phi Betta Kappa. He intends to be a teacher.

George Guest Haydock '41, 44 Mt. Auburn St., prepared at Milton Academy. At Harvard he lived in Eliot House, made the football team, and was elected a member of the Permanent Class Committee. He will study Medicine.

Richard Howard Sullivan '39, Head Proctor, Grays 5-6, was on the Redbook staff, in the Student Union, and a member of the Class Album Committee. He was elected First Marshall of his class.

Irving Myer London '39, Grays 5-6, was given the Phi Betta Kappa key, and elected Second Marshal.

Douglas Mercer '40, Grays 41-42, was Secretary of the Union, Chairman of the Union Committee, Secretary of Phillips Brooks House, and a member of the Permanent Class Day Committee.

John Bowditch III '38, Hollis 7, was Managing Editor of the CRIMSON, a member of the Tercentary Committee, and Second Marshall of his class.

James Donovan Malcomson, Jr. '40, Lionel A-21, was a member of the Debating Team and attended Law School.

Phil Caldwell Neal '40, Lionel A-21, was President of the Student Council, Vice-president of the Album Committee, and awarded Phi Beta Kappa.

Rodman Wilson Paul '37, Massachusetts A-31, was member of the CRIMSON News Board and Chairman of the Foreign Student Committee.

Richard Otis Ulin '38, Mathews 10, was active in House athletics, a member of his House Committee, the Dramatic Club, the Redbook, and the Student Council.

Ward MacLean Hussey '41, Mathews 46, was on the Debating Team, a member of the Student Council, and won his P.B.K. key.

Gustav Bergson, Mower A-11, studied at Harvard as a graduate student for three years, receiving his Master of Arts degree in 1936.

George Frederick Lowman '38, Head Proctor, Straus D-21, was a Junior Usher and member of the Class Day Committee.

Leonard Calvin Holvik '40, Thayer 9, was on the Crew, and a member of the Glee Club.

Norman David Blotner '40, Thayer 29, was a member of the Government Council and of Phillips Brooks House.

Lt. Kenneth Loring Booth '39, Wigglesworth D-21, was active in House sports, a member of Phillips Brooks House, and of the Class Day Committee.

Rendigs Thomas Fels '39, Wigglesworth E-12, was active in debating, a member of Phillips Brooks House, and was awarded the Phi Beta, Kappa key.

John Alden Bevey, Jr. '35, Wigglesworth I-22, lived in Eliot House, was on the CRIMSON, the Glee Club, the Union Committee, and the Student Council. He won a Phi Beta Kappa key.

John Lyell Dampeer '38, Wigglesworth K-22, was Chairman of the Album Committee and elected Third Marshall.

Ernest James Sargeant '40, Farlow 25, was a member of Phillips Brooks House, of Pi-Eta and elected Third Marshall.

James Swain Lanigan '39, Apley Court 1, was a member of Leverett House, Chairman of the Politics Committee, and has chosen politics as his vocation.

James W. Lanigan '39, Apley 1, went to Georgetown University before coming to Harvard. He was drum major as a Senior and was Chairman of the Politics Committee of the Student Union.

Walter Jackson Bate, '39 Claverly 23, went to Morton High School in Richmond, Indiana, before coming to Harvard. As an upperclassman he lived in Dunster House.

Bernard Barber '39, Claverly 44, lived in Winthrop House, belonged to the Student Union, was President of the Sociology Club, and was selected to Phi Beta Kapa's Senior Sixteen.

Howard F. Bennett, Dudley 15, went to the Graduate School of Education in 1937-38 and received his A.M. in 1939.

John Paul Floyd, Dudley 23, is in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He received his A.M. in '39.

Francis G. Collier, Little 34, received his A.M. in '33.

Herbert Cyrus Barrows, Jr. '35, Holworthy 20, received a Class of 1814 Scholarship, and concentrated in English.

Roy Michael Hufflngton, Mathews 33, did not attend Harvard as an undergraduate, but has done graduate work here.

Robert Hardock, Jr. '39, Wigglesworth A-22, was track captain.

John Tyler Bonner, Walker 14, has done graduate work in the University.

Ralph Elbridge Ladd, Jr., 5 Lindon Street, was A.M.'ed in 1936.

George G. Haydock '41, 44-46 Mt. Auburn Street, went to Milton, was on the Freshman Smoker Committee, the football team.

Lawrence F. Ebb '39, 52-60 Mt. Auburn Street, lived in Lowell House, was President of the Debating Council, and was in the junior eight of Phi Beta Kappa.

Harry M. Johnson '39, 52-56 Plympton Street, lived in Adams House, and graduated with honors.

Eugene H. Walker '37, 59 Plympton Street, went to St. Paul's, was on the cross-country team, belonged to Hasty Pudding, and graduated with honors
