No cruises will be run this year for persons enlisting in Class V-7 of the U. S. Naval Reserve, A. L. Madden, Lieutenant Commander, U. S. N. R., revealed last night. After a 30-day period as apprentice seamen, those who qualify will be given a 90-day course as reserve midshipmen and will receive commissions as reserve ensigns at the end of this time.
Although the exact time has not yet been set for resuming enlistment for this class, Lieutenant Madden urged last night that students interested in securing a place in the limited quota for the first naval district should assemble the necessary papers in advance so that they may apply without being delayed.
According to present indications, the first training period will begin on September 1, but enlistment will start early this month.
