YARDLING NINE DOWNS LAWRENCE ACADEMY 4-3

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In a thrill-packed battle not decided until the twelfth inning, the Freshman baseball team yesterday defeated Lawrence Academy 4 to 3 at Lawrence. Chief interest in the game centered around the pitching duel.

Don Clay, of Lawrence, brother of Varsity left fielder Lou Clay, hurled against the Crimson, holding the Yardlings to 4 hits and striking out 12 men. Dick Segnitz started on the mound for the Freshmen, and was replaced by Warren Berg in the fifth. The Lawrence nine, although allowed seven hits, was unable to capitalize on them, while the Crimson managed to drive home all four hits.
