Still undefeated and unscored upon, the Crimson ruggers quelled a stubborn Yale fifteen by a 9-0 margin in the cold and wind on Soldiers Field Saturday.
The Eli ranks were filled with such football stars as Hovey Seymour and Dave Colwell with the result that their tackling was hard, and the Harvard backs were severely rushed. But the greater experience of Sid Cabot's men told the tale, as they were able to capitalize on important breaks that led to the winning scores.
The first half was the big one for the Crimson Club, for it was in this period that the only two tries were scored. Cy Taylor led the way with the first try in the early part of the game. Then, after a sustained drive on the Blue goal line, Dick Simpson, also from the scrum, plowed 30 yards for an additional three points. The second half found both teams almost deadlocked, but Wally De Witt broke the stalemate by counting three points on a penalty kick.
The Jayvees, in a return match with the Boston Rugby Club, again tied the visitors, 3 to 3. Ray Jopling scored the sole try for the Crimson.
