"There is an absolute need for federal participation in education if there is to be equality of opportunities for all," addressed Professor Henry W. Holmes of the Graduate School of Education in a discussion last night at the Union. Conducted by the American Civilization Program, the evening was devoted to a study of free schools and the growth of American democracy.

Citing the Roxbury Latin School as an early example of restricted education, Professor Holmes traced the growth of teaching methods up to the present line.
