PENTAGONAL SWORD VICTORS FAVORED TO BEAT ELI TODAY

Experience Gives Crimson Edge in New Haven Match

In its final dual meet of the season, the Varsity fencers will face an underdog Yale team today at New Haven. The Eli swordsmen are rank underdogs, having been beaten handily by the same Crimson aggregation two weeks ago in the Pentagonals.

The Peroymen have a very creditable record to date, with only two losses, to Army by a 14-13 score, and to Seton Hall by a 16 1-2 to 10 1-2. On the credit side of the ledger the team has beaten St. John's College 16 to 11, Brown 20 1-2 to 6 1-2, Columbia 14-13, and M. I. T. 16-11.

The crowning glory of the season so far has been the victory which the Crimson fencers chalked up in the Pentagonals. Going into the meet with only a mediocre record, the Peroymen walked off with the trophy for the first time in the five-year history of the meet.

In the Columbia and M. I. T. meets the team showed that its victory in the Pentagonals was no fluke. Yale, who has had only a mediocre showing thus far, is expected to go down before the more experienced Crimson swordsmen.

The probable line-up for the Varsity is: Art Jaros, Ben Johnson, and Joe Koch in the foils; Captain Amos Murphy, Lyan Brus, and Paul Littlefield in the epee; and Tom Wright, Bob Batt, and Win Alberts in the saber.

Against the Eli Freshman team will be pitted the following Yardlings: Al Rockwood, Bob Sheels, and George Wilbur in the foils; Mike Olmsted, Rush Welter, and Bob Zaugg in the epee; and Dick MacNeal, Harold Cooledge, and Al Dege or Manford Holman in the saber.
