Announcements of promotion were sent out to six teachers in several graduate schools and the college itself, officials of the University revealed today.

The men appointed are: Archibald T. Davidson '95, professor of Choral Music as James Edward Ditson professor of Music; William E. Ladd as William E. Ladd professor of Surgery; Frederick R. Grace and George M. A. Hanfmann as faculty instructors in Fine Arts; Robert W. White as '25 as research associate in the Psychological clinic; and Myles La G. Mace as an assistant professor of Business and Government.

Professor Davidson, who has been on the staff of the Music department since 1910, and was conductor of the Glee Club from 1912 to 1934, is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on choral singing in the country. In his capacity as professor of Music 1, which he has been teaching for many years, he is equally as well known.
