No less than three league contests are on this week's docket for the Crimson hoopsters. Princeton comes here tomorrow night in the other end of a home and home arrangement, while the team takes to the road to face Cornell and Pennsylvania Friday and Saturday nights.
Whether the Crimson forces are going to improve their present position of a fifth place tie will depend largely on the outcome of these impending battles. It will be the toughest week of the season for the Crimson.
As a result of games played last week, the league race is now wide open. Cornell has tarnished Dartmouth's unbeaten record, while the Ithacans themselves received a severe blow to their aspirations from Captain Franny Simpson's men.
Columbia in Second Place
Columbia, the surprise team of the league, is now only half a game behind the pace-setting Indians by dint of victories over Pennsylvania and Princeton. The Big Green will have a chance to prove its superiority this Saturday when it plays host to the Lions in what may be termed the week's most crucial engagement.
Gus Broberg, who has played in two fewer games than Cornell's Jim Bennett, today stands in second place in the league scoring lists, a single point behind his rival. Broberg tops Bennett on field baskets and has a much better game average. His average of 14.5 points a game compares with Bennett's 11.
The highest Crimson individual scorer is Joe Romano, who is in fifteenth place with 37 points. Having played in only four games, however, his average of 9.3 points stacks up favorably with many in the first ten.
