Initiating the annual inter-House basketball tournament, the teams of Dunster and Kirkland will clash this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Indoor Athletic Building. Following at 45 minute intervals until 5 o'clock the hoopsters of Leverett, Winthrop, and Eliot will battle the rival quintets of Dudley, Lowell, and Adams, respectively.
In the competition to determine the winning combination which will contribute valuable points to its House in the fight for the Straus trophy, each team is scheduled to play each of its opponents twice, but a system in which two defeats automatically eliminates the loser has been adopted to decide which House quintet will meet Yale.
Kirkland last year climaxed a successful season in inter-House competition with a decisive 59-13 victory over Yale.
