Yale Subsidization Debate Has All New Haven Excited

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Whether or not Yale should offer athletic scholarships has all New Haven in a dither, according to a poll recently conducted by the Yale Daily News. Over two-thirds of the New Haven townspeople are in favor of the move.

The controversy was sparked by an article written by sports writer George Trevor of the New York Sun, urging a relaxation of scholarship requirements. Spence Moseley, football captain-elect, spoke on the subject on the University Forum of the Air program Tuesday night, and John B. Dempsey, chairman of the Alumni Board, asserted in a letter to the News that the graduates were almost unanimously opposed to the plan.
