House Vacancies Provoke Change

Dropped Freshmen Will Be Admitted After Midyears

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Filling the vacancies left by Seniors who will be drafted and graduated, dropped Freshmen may live in the Houses during the second term, according to a statement made yesterday by Dean Hanford. The announcement is as follows:

"Owing to the war which will cause many of this year's Seniors to complete the requirements for their degree at mid-years, there will doubtless be a number of vacancies which will occur in the Houses at that time.

"The authorities have recently studied this situation and have decided to remove the restrictions prohibiting dropped Freshmen from living in the Houses. In the past, lack of accommodations has been one of the reasons why students who have earned promotion beyond the Freshman Class have been given preference over the dropped Freshmen.

"This means that those who are interested in House membership should secure application blanks at the office of the Secretary for Houses, 16 University Hall, in order to be placed on the Waiting List and be notified as these vacancies occur.

"Students who are living in University Dormitories are reminded that their present contracts will be cancelled without penalty if they are admitted to one of the Houses."
