YARDLING SIX NETS 7-1 WIN

Mechem Named '45 Leader After Belmont Hill Game

Richard Watson Mechem '45, of Washington, D. C. and Matthews Hall, was elected captain of the Yardling hockey team yesterday at a meeting of the squad held after the Belmont Hill contest.

It took the Yardling sextet a full period to get started yesterday afternoon, but when the whistle heralding the second period sounded, the Hoddermen went to work and carved out a 7 to 1 victory over Belmont Hill at the Boston Skating Club, nothing their third straight triumph.

Bill Whittington and Orrin Wood, with two goals apiece, paced the Freshman scorers, while Stan Collinson tallied one goal and passed to Wood for another. Hodder started his second six against untried Belmont Hill, which was playing its first 1941 contest.

The Belmont score came late in the final period, and it marked the third successive fracas in which the opposition averted a shutout with a last minute goal. The Yardlings have rung up 18 scores in their three contests.
