Florida Trip For Swimmers Cancelled Because of War

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Swimming Coach Hal Ulen yesterday cancelled the proposed Christmas trip of the Varsity mermen to Florida and the annual Fort Lauderdale swimming clinic, after deciding that, in view of the war, it was not advisable for the Crimson swimmers to make the trip.

Six Varsity swimmers had originally planed to make the trip south with Coach Ulen to the national aquatic school held annually at Fort Lauderdale. Those who had counted on making the proposed excursion were John Eusden, Tony Myrer, Don Harting, Bob Sceery, Walt Downing, and Dave Barnes.

The Fort Lauderdale clinic is attended annually by swimmers from all over the country, and last year they numbered 735. The sessions consist of discussion, demonstration, and exhibition of swimming techniques.
