Coming from behind in the final minutes of play, the Yardling quintet nosed out the Brown Freshmen 63 to 58 last night in Providence. Left guard Mike DeLeo topped the scoring for both teams with 18 points, while Baldwin paced the home team with 15 tallies.
Brown led for most of the game, being ahead 37 to 29 at half time, and at one point had a 15 to 3 margin. Two minutes before the end of the third quarter the score was tied at 47-all, and two baskets by DeLeo made up for shots by Gardner and Ahearn of the Bruins to end the period in a 51 to 51 deadlock.
After Brown got away to a six-point lead at the start of the final stanza, successive field goals by Dean Hennessy, DeLeo, and Dick Richards tied it up at 57 each. Ahearn counted with a foul, but the Crimson came through to win with DeLeo making two goals and Hennessy one.
