CASNER CALLS FOR CALMNESS

Men Urged to Wait Until Nation Can Use Them Best

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Students should not lose their heads and rush off to enlist in the armed forces without waiting until they see where the country needs them most.

This is the advice of A. James Casner, professor of Law and head of the Defense Advisory Board, who has been swamped by men wanting to join one of the services since the outbreak of war with Japan.

Information Expected Soon

"It is extremely unwise for students to become panicky and let their emotions bring them to decisions not best for themselves or the country," he said, adding that they should "wait until the government knows what it wants to do and who it wants to do it."

Early next week the Army and Navy, with whom he has been in touch since the beginning of the war, are expected to supply Casner with more specific information as to just which branches of the service particularly need recruits. These data will be made known as soon as possible.
