EVERTS, FREEDMAN SPLIT NET FINALS

Al Everts and Bob Freedman battled it out for almost two hours yesterday at windswept Jarvis Field in the finals of the University tennis tournament, ending up with one set apiece.

Everts, winner of the affair last year and favorite to capture the title again this year, found the going difficult in yesterday's match, dropping the first set to the former Yale star and New England Intercollegiate singles champion by a score of 6-3.

But he came back in the next set and displayed more of his usual speed and power, taking it 6-2. The rest of the match will be played at a later date not decided upon as yet. The reason the contest was not finished was that Freedman had a class that he had to attend.
