Tiger Soccer Varsity Defeats Crimson, 2-1

Overtime Goal Counteracts Gifford's First Half Score

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

It took Princeton's Tiger soccer team six quarters to down an invading Crimson Varsity 2-1 last Saturday on a sloppy, water-logged Poe Field. Not until after the half could the home team get started but then it slowly raised enough steam to conquer the Harvard booters.

In the second period, Dick Gifford scored the Crimson's lone tally from his inside position. Ward Chamberlin, in the fourth quarter, tied up the ball game for the Orange and Black and forced the fray into overtime periods.

The rules of soccer call for two extra periods in case of a deadlock, and in the final one demanded. Chamberlin took a pass from his teammate Paul Paris and slapped it through to sew up the victory.
