Fifteen soldiers from Fort Devens be here Saturday and Sunday as guests of the Defense Service Committee an organization recently formed under the auspices of Phillips Brooks House for the purpose of entertaining men in the Army.
Arriving by bus Saturday afternoon, the service men will be welcomed by Edward Ames '42, and Richard N. Hall '43, members of the Committee. That afternoon the athletic facilities of the University will be thrown open to those soldiers who care for a dip in the pool or a fast game of handball.
Spend Night in Houses
They will eat dinner Saturday night in Adams, Leverett, and Dunster and will spend the night in the rooms of members of those Houses who signed up as volunteer hosts. Later in the evening they will have a fling at Virginia reels and polkas at the Memorial Hall barn dance.
Sunday morning the conscripts will be taken on a tour of the University and later will attend the teas of several members of the Faculty.
Exclusive of personal expenditures, the entire week end will take only $1.50 of the soldiers' $21-a-month.
