NEW PEACE GROUP TO MEET TONIGHT

First Forum to Investigate Peace Problems to Be Here

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In Kirkland House tonight a group of nine Juniors and Seniors will meet to organize a forum on the issues of the coming peace. If it is successful, the group hopes the peace problem forum idea may spread to college campuses throughout the country and that a nation-wide magazine may give unity to the movement.

The chief force behind the idea is a large contribution from a New York philanthropist to be used for "the establishment of non-partisan undergraduate councils to consider phases of the peace problem." Unlimited funds are promised if the scheme catches hold.

Driving Force at Harvard

As it looks now, the driving force of the movement will be at Harvard. The first forum will be set up here and its model will be followed in parallel organizations at other colleges. Also the magazine, which will publish articles from all over the country, will have its office in Cambridge.

The meeting tonight will be concerned mainly with the practical matters of organization, both of the forum and the magazine editorship. It will attempt to divide the subject into the main topics to be investigated. Following it there will be a call for membership. The first large meeting is planned for late in December.

It is hoped that the group will do more than superficially survey the issues. Committees on the various topics will work with members of the faculty and their reports will be the result of considerable detailed research. Public debates on the major issues with national leaders participating are envisioned as the principal method of publicizing the results of the work.
