SOCCER TEAM DOWNS ARMY; TEAM PLAY MARKS 1 TO 0 WIN

Herskovits Scores Over Undefeated Cadet Squad

Army's football team was not the only undefeated Cadet eleven to go down under a superior Crimson attack Saturday. West Point's soccer aggregation was trampled by the Harvards 1 to 0 on a goal by Mouroe Herskovits in the final quarter.

Although the victors were held in a scoreless deadlock until seven and a half minutes of the fourth period had past. The final result tells only part of the story. The Crimson eleven, playing with magnificent teamwork and a spectacular display of individual talent, never lost control of the situation.

Not that the contest was a breather by any definition, but except for superb physical condition and rugged individual play, the visitors were not up to the polish and finesse demonstrated by Captain Jack Penson and Co.

The right side of the Harvard line kept the spectators roaring with unbelievably colorful cooperation. Inside Thayer Drake and Herksovits at wing completely dazzled the West Point defense with their passing and foot work.

After missing the uprights earlier in the battle, center-forward Rus Sawhill shot the ball to Herskovits who crossed it back into the far corner of the goal to decide the ball game.

On the defense, the work of center half Jack Clarke and goalie Penson was outstanding. Clarke filled in the middle of the field holding the bulwork of the Crimson backfield knit together. The cooperative effort of the fullbacks, Olie Taylor and Bob Harbison, and the goalie prevented innumerable Cadet efforts from succeeding.
