TWO IVY FOES MEET QUINTET

With the experience of five Midwestern games behind them, Coach Earl Brown's Varsity squad is all set to meet its first Eastern Intercollegiate League competition when it faces the Big Red of Cornell tonight and the Big Green of Dartmouth tomorrow at 8:30 o'clock in the Indoor Athletic Building.

The Ithacans are bringing a weaker team than the one that dropped two games to the Crimson last year. Jim Bennett, their high scoring forward, Howle Dunbar, their towering center, and jovial Ken Jolly will be missing from the starting lineup. But even ample replacements to give them a without these men, the Big Red has pre-game edge in the betting odds.

Last year's five finished second in the Ivy League with nine wins and three losses behind the championship Dartmouth squad. Only their double loss to the Crimson kept them from taking the League title.

Tonight the Big Red will face practically the same lineup they bowed before last year. Ed Buckley and Bud Finegan will again man the guard posts, Ed Rothschild will jump at center, and Joe Romano will again be at forward. Only forward "Chick" Lutz, replacing last season's captain, Franny Simpson, will be a newcomer to meet the Cornell squad.

Tall Don Lutze will be ready to rush in at guard, and his fellow Sophomore six foot three inch "Bunks" Burditt, will be ready to relieve Ed Rothschild at center.

Coach Blair Gullion will start Captain Frank Burgess and Junior Sam Hunter at guard, George Bouton at center, and Bob Gallagher and high scoring Bill Stewart at forward. A promising group of Sophomores are also sure to see plenty of action as subs.

Dartmouth Tomorrow

After finishing with Cornell tonight, the squad will take on last year's Ivy League champions tomorrow evening at 8:30 o'clock. Like the Crimson, the Indians have also met some Midwestern competition, eclipsing Wisconsin by twelve points, 59 to 47, and losing their only game to Toledo 59 to 46. St. John's fell by the large score of 74 to 55, Tufts lost 61 to 34, Vermont dropped a 47 to 18 contest, Fordham battled to a one point defeat, 53 to 52, and Seton Hall fell behind 43 to 42.

Coach Ozzie Cowles will start one Senior, three Juniors, and one Sophomore against the Crimson. Stub Pearson, last Fall's football captain, will captain the basketball five from his guard position. Playing beside him will be Stan Skaugh with Jim Olsen at center, and George Munroe and Sophomore Bob Meyers at forward.

Reserve material will be plentiful with an outstanding array of subs including Bill Palmer, Shauty Shaw, Bud Pogue, George Galbraith, Jim Briggs, Gordie MacKernan, and Bob Ehinger. After winning the Ivy League title last year, the Indians entered the National Championships, losing to Wisconsin, Big Ten champions, by only one point
