DEFENSE LEAGUE BACKS NEW GROUP

Supports Credo of Newly-Organized Student Defenders of Democracy

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

An "affiliation" of the Harvard Student Defense League with the Student Defenders of Democracy, was announced yesterday by Royal G. Whiting '42, Secretary of the League.

Whiting emphasized the fact that the League was not joining the new organization, but that it was merely cooperating with it and that members of the League have supported the credo of the Student Defenders of Democracy.

The Student Defenders of Democracy was organized during the Christmas vacation and its purpose is to support the "aid to Britain" policy in the Universities in the country. 231 students from all over the United States have signed the Credo.

The organization supports the loan-lease bill now pending in Congress. The Credo also urges close cooperation with defense leaders in order to speed our armament campaign.

"As the best means of defending democracy we urge that all necessary support be given immediately to Great Britain, China, and all other nations now fighting the menace. No one must fail in this first duty of defense, which is to aid those who are carrying our battle," the Credo of the Defenders states.
