ROME--Waves of British bombers last night attacked the great Italian port of Naples and the port of Palermo, Sicily, the Italian war communique today revealed.

The communique also claimed the sinking by Italian naval units of a British submarine, an auxiliary cruiser, and a 3600-ton merchant ship.
