Valuable Furniture, Records Ruined; Police Investigating Vandalism

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

One lush Oriental rug, a set of expensive linen damask tablecloths, and several old issues of the CRIMSON valued at $75 apiece, were destroyed by the hungry jaws of 200 black mice which were dumped into the CRIMSON building last week by a vandal yet unidentified.

The extent of the damage was so great that a detective from the Cambridge police force was assigned to the situation. The officer could not ferret out the party guilty of the offense, but stated after investigation that he definitely "smelled a rat."

The mice, tame as they could he, were finally gathered together by David Coulter, the CRIMSON'S braw caretaker. David cornered the redents with the aid of a vacuum cleaner.

Called by Mr. Coulter, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals sent an ambulance around and carried off the mice in a box, to be delivered into the painless grip of a lethal gas chamber.
