Edward Burlingame Hill '94, James E. Ditson Professor of Music, will retire this spring, becoming professor emeritus after 32 years of active service in the Music Department.
In his honor a special concert with a program drawn entirely from his own compositions will be held at 8:30 o'clock next Friday evening in the Music Building.

Beginning his career in the Department as instructor of Music in 1908, Professor Hill has filled the successive positions on the academic ladder. He became a full professor in 1928, was chosen to fill the James E. Ditson chair in 1937, and has served as chairman of the Department of Music.
Artists who will preform Professor Hill's compositions are: the Chardon String Quartet. Georges Laurent, and Jesus Maria Sanroma, of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Miss Doris Dee, of the Metropolitan Opera Company; and Walter H. Piston Jr., of the Music Department.
The program will include a String Quartet, Sonata for Flute and Plane, three songs, and the first performance of Professor Hill's Concertino Number 3 for Pianoforte and Orchestra.
