In a circular sent out to the class of '40 today the Senior Spread Committee announced that Eddie Duchin, his piano and his orchestra will play for the dancing in Lowell House on Monday night, June 17, from 10 o'clock until 3.
The recently-formed Committee, comprising the chairmen of the various House dance committees, is headed by Samuel W. White, Jr. '40, of Lowell House. Other members are Mason Fernald '40 of Eliot, John N. Fulham, Jr. '40 of Dunster, G. Scott Olive, Jr. '40 of Adams, Elliott H. Phillips '40 of Kirkland, Evans Speer '40 of Leverett, and David Stiles '40 of Winthrop.
In previous years the price of admission for couples to the Spread has ranged from $5.50 to $7, but 1940's party will cost only $4.50 per couple, $3.50 stag. About 270 couples are expected, White said: however, "a good many more can be accomodated.
Songtress for Duchin's orchestra will be the beauteous June Robbins. Dancing will pause at midnight for the "Spread" proper, to be consumed in the courtyard, which "will be lighted by indirect lighting and the moon."
